22ND JANUARY, SAO PAOLO: Mercado Bitcoin, the leading cryptocurrency exchange in Latin America, in partnership with fintech blockchain company Chiliz, has listed the Fan Tokens for Paris Saint-Germain ($PSG), Juventus ($JUV), AS Roma ($ASR) CAI Independiente ($CAI) and Galatasaray ($GAL).
$PSG, $JUV, $ASR, $CAI, $ATM and $GAL can be bought on Mercado Bitcoin using BRL (Brazilian Real).
Mercado Bitcoin has more than 1.9M registered users, with the listings further increasing the accessibility and liquidity of Fan Tokens across the globe.
Mercado Bitcoin is the fourth major exchange to list Fan Tokens, following in the footsteps of Binance, Turkish exchange Paribu and Korean exchange Upbit.com. In late December PSG and JUV daily trading volumes hit a high of $300M. In just over a year over 14M Fan Tokens have been sold and over $30M has been generated for clubs and partners. More Fan Tokens will be listed on Mercado Bitcoin and on additional leading exchanges in the coming months.
Fan Tokens can be used to engage with clubs and earn rewards on the blockchain-based fan voting and rewards app Socios.com. In the last 12 months the app has been downloaded by more than 450,000 people, with notable engagement examples including Apollon FC choosing the first team for a friendly match and the club’s home and away kit for the 2021/22 season. Juventus fans chose the club’s new goal celebration song, decided on a limited edition redesign of the iconic ‘J’ logo and the first team bus for the 2020/21 season.
