First The Team, Now The Kit. Cypriot Club Apollon FC Lets Fans Make The Big Calls

LIMASSOL, JANUARY 07th 2020:  Leading Cypriot football club Apollon FC will let fans choose the home and away kit designs for the 2020/21 season on blockchain-based fan engagement and rewards app

Apollon, who have reached the Europa League Group Stages on four occasions, made fan engagement history in October of last year when they asked their fans to pick the team for a friendly with local rivals Aris Limassol. The fan picked side went on to win 6-0.

Now the three-time Cypriot champions are breaking new ground in fan engagement once more, this time asking fans to use their $APL Fan Tokens to choose between a series of  home and away kit designs, provided by world famous kit manufacturer Puma, on the app.

Fan Token owners will also have the opportunity to create and subsequently vote on a unique message to be placed on the collar of the chosen shirts through, once voting in the initial poll has concluded.  $APL holders will also be invited to participate in the promotional video to mark the official launch of the 2021/22 kit.

$APL Fan Token holders will be able to influence multiple club decisions each season on and access other benefits and engagement opportunities through the app, including the chance to connect with other supporters in Socios Chat. Fans can also look forward to VIP rewards, exclusive club and sponsor related promotions, in-app games and competitions and the chance to be crowned the number one fan in their region/country through an in-app leaderboard.

Other notable examples of fan engagement through include Juventus fans choosing the club’s new goal celebration song, as well as deciding on a limited edition redesign of the club’s iconic ‘J’ logo and the design of the first team bus for the 2020/21 season. Supporters of FC Barcelona placed a unique fan designed artwork at the heart of the Camp Nou dressing room, Roma fans delivered questions direct to head coach Paolo Fonseca in a live press conference and PSG fans chose a unique message for the captain’s armband as well as voting on their end of season awards through the app.
